Name:
Veran
Nicknames:
Twili Sorceress, Shadow Witch
Age:
Heaven knows how old she's managed to remain living on her magic...but she appears 30. 30 is the new 20, right? Right?
Species:
Twili
Gender:
Female
Alignment:
Neutral-Evil
Type:
MAGIC
Size:
5'7''
Build:
She's a tall and very curvaceous woman. Her waist to hip ratio is enough to make any woman jealous...as well as turn any man's head. If it weren’t for the blue skin and gold digging-backstabbing demeanor...she'd probably be considered a catch.
IQ:
133-140: Quite intelligent, she plays the game right. For one, she ignored Zant...for two...she negotiates and deceives in the most intricate ways, fooling not only her enemies but her allies as well.
Birth Place:
Unknown
Residence:
Twili realm, keeping her head low. Long ago her meddling got herself banished by the princess. What she did to deceive the ruler has never came to light but it was enough to earn her banishment to the lower recesses of the realm. When Zant rose into power she was promised a great many things in exchange for her abilities of possession and manipulation. Though, when he rose as KING, he not only denied her freedom but also earned her disdain...when the false king was usurped, so was the hold on her and her contempt.
Occupation:
Sorceress, Advisor...(aide for the winning side)
Stats:
Physical: 5
Mental: 10
Luck: 6
Physical Abilities:
She isn't very powerful in her original form, although she has the all powerful power over men...seduction and not even trying, that is a skill.
Learned Abilities:
Possession, manipulation, changing into shadowy forms, manipulating twili energies into light. She took great pride in her ability to dapple in darkness and in light...what she uses at the time is all to her benefit. Also the form of a dark fairy. Whoo.
Weaknesses:
She hates turtles, spiders and bees. If you put her to sleep then all her abilities nullify. She is of the twilight, between shadow and light, she has to be in one extreme or the other to function...returning her to a balance and she loses her power. With this said she never sleeps and she finds ways to make sure she never needs too.
She is extremely vain and values her beauty. Midna is a point of scorn with the woman...not only is the princess powerful and loved by her people...but she was beautiful. Zant's actions of devolving the twili princess into an imp were near bliss! (Some wonder if it's why she was in on it at all come the start of things.)
Hobbies & Talents:
She has a way with words, can dance and move with a great deal of grace...disarming despite her appearances she can tame even the roughest of tempers. She also is an artisan, crafting various relics of power using her shaping abilities... ...although it is safe to say that a gift from this woman will be less than thrilling. Taming twilight beasts? They listen without pause.
Personality:
As stated several times before she is a snake. Saying what people need and want to hear she earns their trust, usually behind a guise, and then uses their emotions and secrets against them. If this doesn't work she penetrates their mind's defenses and takes them over wholly. Further more...she has raging tempers that include the hurling of white fireballs and taking the shape of monstrous spiders!
Do not insult her appearance; although she may not lose her head outwardly she may perpetuate the loss of your own. Taking great care to make sure she is gorgeous and desirable she tries to use her wiles on everything with two legs.
She is evil, but only so evil to want to benefit herself. She tried, long ago, to build a great dark tower and take over all the land...but that didn't work. Live and learn...then seek Ganon.
Likes:
Seeing Midna writhe. Seeing Zelda writhe. Getting her way and solitude...she values silence. Although she values peace and quiet she appreciates music more. She's an artisan as well as a conniving harlot. She also has an affinity for twili beasts in the and shadowed representations of the hero of time. She MAKES her friends.
Dislikes:
Jarring noises, people falling asleep in the middle of her master plan...spiders, turtles, bees. Woman more beautiful than her is a big one.
Appearance:
Clothing:
She wears huge shoulder ornaments that melt down into skintight sleeves. At her elbows are two-spiked guards of vambrace that hold up a draped cloak. Over an underskirt of white, which covers her feet, she wears purple armor which lays in plates over her hips...and over that a dark blue banner with a wicked eye painted in a lighter blue. She also wears a bizarre, sort of finned, headdress, which not only covers her head but also covers her neck. Only a long thick lock of her hair shows, flowing out of the headdress on the left side of her face. The black of her headdress also covers the left eye.
History:
Veran was a gerudo sorceress. Long ago her treachery earned her the disdain of the Queen Ambi and the goddess spirit Nayru. Controlling the benevolent incarnation of love herself through possession (posing as the spirit's lady in waiting,) Veran sought to urge the queen into building a citadel. The queen was heart-broken; her husband had left to war and had never returned. In the guise of the spirit, Veran urged her to build the tall and handsome tower. She urged it; supposedly, so the queen could climb it to it's peak and scry for his lost location. Trusting the words of Nayru, the queen in all her wisdom, assumed its construction. Veran's manipulation wavered in the end. A castle hand had grown wise to the sorceress's deeds and in his duty to the queen herself...spiked the spirit's drink. Upon Nayru falling asleep Veran lost all control of her captor and was revealed her true nature. She had no choice; taking control of the queen she locked herself into the completed tower. For all the heroics of the castle hand, it was all in vain. Climbing to the top of the tower Veran sought to broadcast her control over all the land and make it a sleepless, loyal mass of subjects. She wanted an army of minions bent to her will and pleasure. All would have come to pass if it hadn't been for Nayru herself. The spirit had followed her behind the locked doors and in action, cast her away into the twilight realm forever.
This is where the treacherous Zant found the sorceress. Small and at the bidding whim of the Twilight Princess, this snake wound his way through the royal’s wishes. Veran would be of great use to him and so he got her taken in as a courtier. The once gerudo manipulator became of the twili herself...living for years as a silent abider of the Princess's council. Veran knew of Zant's nature, seeing a great deal of him in herself. With this kinship she built a shaky pact and the two of them balanced on what could have been called a love-hate relationship...but Zant grew too threatened of the sorceress, as the time his heresy drew to it's peak. When all would come to fruition, he feared she would betray him.
Zant dealt the final blow. Veran’s nature betrayed her as she wondered the palace halls. The power of the Twili, now her people, was still fresh and new to her. Even accepted close as a courtier, the Princess herself safeguarded her secrets deftly. Playing on his victim’s selfish desires for power and status… Zant tricked Veran into seeking an artifact within the palace. Veran at first did not trust the notion and with good reason. Although she gave into curiosity and with that mistake… her freedom. She managed to find the relic deep within the castle, among others the princess possessed. She was caught. Amazingly Zant was there just in the knick of time to stop the thief. Midna, outraged, banished her away under the care of the deceiver. He, now in Midna's better graces, stowed the sorceress away. She would be of use to him yet.
After months of silence in her banishment, Zant returned to his indignant captor. Days of coaxing the angry woman finally broke through her seething screams. He explained, plainly, that he had betrayed her so to remove her from suspicion. He said he would free her when the time was right...she was more than the princess could ever hope to be. She was the true ruler and whom he desired to serve. Her vanity took over all else and with his words came her loyal services to her "noble slave." She did not know that the roles were, in truth, reversed.
She had been forcibly used since the fall of the good ruler. The hopeful sorceress was never released from her solitude, erased away from memory and only resurfaced to perform for the false king’s duty. It wasn't until Zant finally fell at the hands of the hero of time was she released.
Keeping her head low she waits to gain the upper hand. The princess is an imp...the twilight realm is open to the world of light. Further more, this Ganon fellow? Very interesting.
Anything else?
This is a character from THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: ORACLE OF AGES, she was the main villain. In her back-story it was not Nayru who defeated her but link himself…I adapted the story so that she would be tossed into the twilight realm instead of being killed. Also she technically never met Link this way (which that would have been a different Link anyways.) She was indeed a geruda but every time I read her description online there were references that oddly enough she looked like a twili…and she did…with the red hair, red eyes and her blue-teal skin color, how she dressed, she did very much resemble a twili. So I ran with the notion that she was the unseen lingering woman scorned. I careful made sure she was OUT of the twilight storyline entirely through her banishment…only arising after the story had played out. I read the game script (as it’s been awhile since I played the game) and her speech was limited…so I took some artist’s license and flushed out her personality and demeanor. She is my acclimated version of the villianess…translated from Ages to Twilight Princess. Hope it meets spec.
Under discussion with Topaz Mutiny, player to Midna.
