Note that most of these rules come from the SegaStH RP, of which I am a member. This is because I happen to like the way they have the rules, and they make a lot of sense. For more information about making characters, please refer to the Character Information board. - Board Rating

Board RatingThis forum and roleplay are PG-13. Though the below generally applies to the roleplay itself, it's also a good set of guidelines to abide by in the general forums as well. - Blood: Depictions of minimal blood. (But NOT the mutilation of body parts.)
- Mild violence: Mild scenes depicting characters in unsafe and/or violent situations.
- Cartoon violence: Violent actions involving cartoon-like situations and characters. May include violence where a character is unharmed after the action has been inflicted.
- Fantasy violence: Violent actions of a fantasy nature, involving human or non-human characters in situations easily distinguishable from real life.
- Comic mischief: Depictions or dialogue involving slapstick or suggestive humor.
- Crude humor: Depictions or dialogue involving vulgar antics, including “bathroom” humor.
- Mature humor: Depictions or dialogue involving "adult" humor, including sexual references.
- Sexual themes: Mild to moderate sexual references and/or depictions. May include partial nudity.
- Language: Mild to moderate use of profanity. Higher usage of profanity will be filtered.
- Simulated gambling: Player can gamble without betting or wagering real cash or currency.
IF YOU'RE UNSURE ABOUT CERTAIN CONTENT, CONSULT THE ADMIN OR MODERATORS FIRST.

Posting Rules - General- Don't act rude or stuck up, especially if you're new here. Respect our rules and treat others the way you want to be treated yourself. Remember, being a member of our community is a privilege, not a right, and poor house guests will be kicked out.
- Should you have a problem with another member, please resolve it privately. It's what the private messaging system as well as instant messaging were designed for. Likewise, hate speeches and personal attacks on other members are not allowed. Period.
- Use proper grammar and spelling PLEASE! This is a community of writers, and you will not be respected, much less accepted into the community, if you're unwilling to put out a little effort toward writing intelligently. You don't have to have flawless english, but come on, the spell-checker does exist for a reason!
- Keep cursing down to a minimum. Yes, all of us curse around here, but please avoid doing it excessively. Excessive swearing reflects poorly on your vocabulary and intelligence and will cause members to not respect you. Of course, swearing is also deterred by the swear filter, but then we'd know you were trying to swear anyway.
- Please avoid sexual talk stronger than innuendo. Most of us here are in the 18-23 range, but we do have a few younger members (like the admin), and besides that it goes against our board's rating. This isn't a place to cyber.
- Unless you feel you have something meaningful to add that hasn't already been brought up, please try to avoid dredging up older topics.
- Avoid making single word posts that consist of just things like "okays" or "lols", etc. Contrary to popular belief, having the highest post count doesn't make you cool and reflects poorly on you. Not to mention that it's rather annoying to have to sift through these tiny posts in search for one with relevance.
- Avoid stretching the tables please. This means please don't write absurdly long strings of text without breaks that warps the board's shape. Likewise this also extends to images. Images will probably be edited to show a link instead of the actual picture if it does stretch the board.
- Please avoid using excessively large signatures. Typically people use these to link their "I-Play" threads (see below), their character icons, and/or use sprite signatures featuring their roleplay characters. Your sig should not be taller than half a post box that has only one line of text posted.
- The staff will always have the final say as well as the right to lock, move, edit and delete topics/posts if he or she believes they are in violation of our rules.
A.K.A.: USE COMMON SENSE PEOPLE.

Posting Rules - In Game- No Godmodding: This means no taking control of other people’s characters unless that person has given you permission. This can be anything from making them jump off a cliff to saying how they react to something. Your character is for you to control, other people’s characters are other people’s. Failure to respect this will result in a warning on the first two offenses and a banning on the third.
- No Metagaming: Metagaming is when you, the player, exploit knowledge the characters don't or shouldn't know. One example of this would be if a player has their character suddenly turn the room's lights on, knowing that the other players had just discussed a villain who is lethally weak to light will appear any moment. What constitutes metagaming boils down to case-by-case basis and depends on how convenient a situation is. Use common sense when writing.
- Nothing Inappropriate: Follow the board rating guidelines. This means no excessive blood or gore and no sexual content stronger than innuendo. Drug, alcohol, and cigarette usage are also stricly prohibited. Based on the severity of the offense, it is possible to get banned the first time you violate this rule.
- Respect Other Players: Don't pitch a fit because so-and-so made something happen you don't like or agree with. If you're unable to work with/around it, politely ask the person if they would alter or delete what they've written. The best way to avoid this is to communicate with the other players and discuss threads/plots with each other.
- Don't Abuse Creative Freedom: Creative freedom is a wonderful thing, but can easily turn ugly if abused. Don't take your liberties to assume what another character, group or organization has or hasn't done without first consulting the players responsible for them. This is considered a form of godmoding. Likewise, it's a smart choice to discuss anything involving objects or devices in general with other players.
- Try To Be Active: While we're not heavily fast-paced, no one enjoys waiting for weeks or months for a single thread to move. We ask that you get involved only if you're capable of checking into the board at least once or twice a day, though the ratio varies depending on how active the board is at the time. If your schedule can't permit this, we ask out of courtesy that you consider holding your activity; write out any active characters (or find substitute players) and keep inactive characters inactive until your schedule can permit otherwise. Members who show little to no activity for long periods of time run the risk of having any canon or semi-canon characters they own taken and placed up for adoption.
- Use Character Icons: So a specific character's post can be easily identified, we use character icons. These icons should uniformally be around 54x54 pixels. If you don't have an icon or a place to host it, both can be provided to you (if you don't have character art, one of the many artists in the community may be willing to draw one for you if you ask politely). Shortcuts to these icons can be requested in a separate thread, and even if you don't currently possess an icon, it may be wise to still use the desired keyword you'll want so all old posts will automatically be effected when you do acquire one.
- Link Your I-Plays In Your Signatures: "I-Plays" are the threads you'll find in the Player Database; when you have characters accepted into the roleplay, your I-Play should serve as a place to list all of them together with links to their profiles and any other informative blurbs you wish to add. These are important references that are often used by many players.
- Follow The Character Guidelines: Your character must fit our guidelines to be accepted. Don't apply a character that fits the guidelines and then later change it to something that otherwise isn't or may not be allowed - speak with the staff and other players before making any major changes. Also, whenever you make changes to a profile, you should be sure to make a post in that character's thread to announce what changes you've made. You'll find the character guidelines Here.
WHEN IN DOUBT, ASK THE STAFF AND/OR PLAYER(S).

Plot & Timeline
Like all the obvious hints about, this RP is based specifically off of the Twilight Princess universe, although it does have heavy influences and refrences to Ocarina of Time. While characters from other LoZ games may be adapted into this version, in no way are any of the other games beyond OoT connected to this universe. So yes, you can app characters from OoT, even though they are technically dead. Just make sure that they fit in with the Twilight Princess continuity.
Due to the fact that TP and OoT are seemingly closely related, I shall be making minor edits to the TP map to include areas such as Lon Lon Ranch and Kokiri Forest.
Any games that are released after the start of this RP may or may not be adapted, depending on how closely related it is to this universe. Sequals are most likely to be adapted (although considering Nintendo has never made an outright sequal-sequal to an LoZ game (either that or the sequal has plotholes large enough to fly a Death Star through while drunk), I doubt it'll happen). An adaptation means that this game will be played inside the RP, where major plot points will be enacted, though much of the in-between interactions are based on the player's decisions. Characters from new games may be adapted into this universe.

Posting RateIn order to prevent people from being swept away/forgotten and to prevent an overwhelming number of people from joining a single thread, the posting rate has been implemented to control how often a player is allowed to post. For each roleplay post you make, depending on the number of people in the thread, you must wait until a certain amount of posts are made by others. This only applies to roleplay threads. Everything else is still fair game. #Players | 1-3 | 4-6 | 7-8 | #Post Waiting Time | 1-2 | 3-4 | 5-6 |
... And so on. A thread should reasonably never have more than eight players at a time. Please note that this says players, not characters. A player is allowed to to have as many characters in a thread as they believe they can keep up with. - Inactivity Clause: If a day passes without anyone else having posted the required amount ahead of you, you're allowed to post once again regardless. Afterward, however, you must wait again. This typically should only apply to one person. If after five days a player does not post in the thread, you may subtract one player from the thread's player count. Despite this, out of courtesy, most players often choose to ignore this clause except for in extreme circumstances.
- Battle Clause: In the event that a battle breaks out in the thread (Link vs King Bulbin, for example) the posting rate rule is no longer in effect until the battle ends. Even though the rate rule is no longer in effect when a battle breaks out, it's courteous to allow other people to catch their breath or join in the fight.
- Observation Clause: Characters that are not actively participating (whether they're observing, hiding, sleeping, etc.) make the player count temporarily go down, for as long as they are not directly involved in the 'foreground'. If another character involves this character, player count bounces back to normal.
Example: A takes a nap (player is temporarily removed as they're not doing anything). Characters B and C talk and do some things. C shakes A to wake them up and tells them B insulted A's mother. A wakes up and slaps B around (rate goes back to normal because they're active again).
- Conversation Clause: If two or three characters are having a conversation (or, in some cases, a non-verbal situation) and in the natural flow of speech it seems appropriate for a specific character to respond next out of turn, you may do this. However, this should only be done once, maybe twice before waiting again. As this is a clause that can easily be exploited, it's urged more then any other to practice courtesy and allow other players the chance to keep up. Exploitation will result in a warning.
- Collaboration Clause: In some circumstances, you may have a post in mind that relies on a small response, action, or piece of dialogue from another character. In these cases, you are allowed to write a collaboration post in which you obtain a short one-liner-esque post from another player and integrate it into your own post to keep from disturbing the post rate. However, this should only be used in situations in which you need a short response to continue the post you had in mind. If the other player's response would be more than a couple lines of dialogue, break up your post and wait.

Dice Function
To use the dice, click the reply button (rather than use the quick reply). In the tag tray you'll see the option to add dice to your posts. After placing the desired number of tags, click preview (some users of Firefox will need to preview twice) to see what they will roll. These numbers are static and will not change with any number of previews, after posting, or with any edits you make.
Dice are used for a number of things, from gambling, to helping players make decisions for their characters. Most prominently, however, they are used for (non-predetermined) battle purposes. Higher numbers determine who wins a roll, and please, only use the corresponding die to what your character is doing. (see below)
If your die roll is higher than your opponent's, your character gains the upper hand, whether by attacking or blocking/dodging/etc. If it's lower, your character fails at their attempt. If a tie occurs, neither character get the upper hand.
This board uses a simple stat system. The three stats categories are physical, mental, and luck. Each character has 21 points that can be distributed between each category. The amount of points you have in a category is the amount of sides you can roll your dice with when dealing in that category. You MUST have AT LEAST ONE POINT in each stat. Each stat has a specific purpose:
• Physical: This determines how well the character attacks and dodges. Higher physical stats allow you to roll higher for physical attacks- it also makes the likelihood of being hit by an oncoming attack lesser. • Mental: This determines how well your character succeeds in mental endeavors. After all, not all problems can be solved by beating things up. It's also used by characters who use projectile weapons and magic rather than their fists, so if your character uses those, use this die instead of physical. • Luck: Luck can most easily be described as anything that doesn't require Physical or Mental feats, though this is largely an oversimplification. While constituting of true luck, this stat also includes things such as a character's balance (such as walking along a tightrope), ability to sneak around unseen and be stealthy, gambling and fortune-telling, difficult decision-making, randomized generating (like reaching into a magic purse and pulling out a random object), and finally being used to see how injured a character is if they have the absolute inability to counteract a role by the Physical or Mental standard being used.
An example of this last role of the Luck stat is if two characters are fighting. Let's say A has the stats 9/9/3, and B has 6/6/9. A rolls a seven. A gets the upper hand automatically, even if B rolls their maximum for either physical or mental. Character "B" can then roll a Luck die to see how badly injured/disadvantaged they are - the higher the number, the less serious the hit is. A 1 is a critical failure, and will always result in a serious injury and/or unconciousness or severe repercussion. A 5 is moderately serious wound or effect that will take time to heal, and a 10 or above is a minor injury or effect.
There is also one more stat: Health. A character's health is determined by the sum of their Physical and Luck stats. This is because Physical endurance and fitness, as well as sheer dumb luck, are apparent key factors for how long they can keep fighting. When a character's health reaches 0, they can no longer preform any actions, and must rest for an indeterminate amount of time. There is no solid amount of time a character must rest due to the nature of the RP; only that a character must be shown resting in at least one post before resuming normal activity.
Any injury subtracts one point from a character's health; but after the event (a battle, for example) is over, a character will regain two points per post. If a character leaves a thread or a Time Skip occurs, characters recover all points.
IF YOU MAKE A BAD ROLL, LIVE WITH IT. MISTAKES HAPPEN, AND MAYBE YOUR CHARACTER IS HAVING A BAD DAY.
